1. People with high IQ tend to make less friends

This is because intelligent people are constantly solving some problem in their mind or the other, therefore they do not hold socialization in a very high regard.

2. Bragging about your plans will eventually stump you

This is because our mind links sharing of plans for completion of work. Our mind thinks that the work is done and we lose the motivation to continue any longer.

3. A 20-second long hug with the people you love is all that you require to make an unbreakable bond of trust.

This is because a chemical named oxytocin is released in our body when someone hugs us and that calms us down, and hence we start trusting that person thereafter.

4. People between the ages of 18 – 30 years tend to be the most depressed.

Older people tend to be mature and wise and hence adjust to life in a better way.

5. Money can buy you happiness.

By spending on your friends and family, you can buy happiness. This is because making someone happy makes us feel satisfied, improves our self-esteem and exactly that feeling is the feeling of happiness.

6. You can only have strong ties to 150 people at the most.

It’s a phenomenon known as, “Dunbar’s Number” after the British anthropologist Robin Dunbar, who first put the idea forward in the 1990s.

150 is the suggested cognitive limit to the number of persons that someone can maintain a stable social relationship with. Exceeding this number is very rare, since becoming close to new people will make the quality of some older relationships deteriorate over time.

7. Thinking in a foreign language makes your decisions more rational.

This is because when we think in our native language we tend to rope in our emotions as well. While, when we think in a foreign language we activate our rational thought process and hence end up making good decisions.

8. You are more likely to come up with a creative idea when you are tired.

A phenomenon known as the Dunning Kruger Effect  shows that not only do intelligent people tend to underestimate themselves a lot more than the average person, but that ignorant people have the opposite tendency to overestimate themselves instead.

12. You get more creative when you’re tired.

If you’re trying to do something creative, like writing a short story or designing a dress, you’d be better off doing it after a long and stressful day. This is because researchers have found that people actually become more creative when their brains aren’t functioning as efficiently. This is one of the main reasons why people often get great ideas while taking a shower after a hard day’s work.


13.  It’s possible to die from a broken heart.

It’s called Stress Cardiomyopathy, sometimes colloquially referred to as “Broken-heart Syndrome”.

Basically, intense stress (either emotional or physical) can lead to severe heart muscle weakness, which sets on incredibly quickly. Old people are the most prone to this.

14.  We don’t predict our reaction to future events very well.

We often think we’re going to react to a future event in a certain way, only for the event to actually take place and ww find ourself reacting completely differently to how we predicted.

15. You can only sustain a high level of concentration for 10 minutes.

Apparently based on studies on average, a person’s attention span peaks after 10 minutes, then it begins to wander.

16. Your brain doesn’t stop working when you sleep.

Your brain is just as active when you sleep as it is when you’re awake. Scientists have discovered that the only time your brain clears out toxins and waste is when you sleep. It is also believed that during the sleep cycles, your brain sorts out all the data from the previous day and creates new associations.

17.  “Wisdom of the Crowd” is not very wise.

Psychologists refer to this as “Groupthink“. The larger the group of individuals, the more likely it is to make choices based on emotions rather than logic and common sense.

18. It takes a person 66 days to form a habit.

For example, if you want to be better about cleaning your home or going to the gym – make a conscious effort to do it for 66 days, after which it will become a habit and will be easier to persevere (this also works for breaking habits).

19. Eye contact can tell a lot about someone.

If a person makes eye contact with you for 100% of a conversation, then they are probably trying to threaten you. If they do this for 80% of the conversation then they may be attracted to you, and if they do it for 60% of the conversation that it’s a good indicator that you are boring them.
