Amber Heard has lent her support to Blake Lively, after she launched a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni.
Lively has filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, accusing them of sexual harassment and creating a toxic workplace. The suit claims Baldoni's PR team attempted to damage Lively's reputation through misleading media strategies.
Amber Heard is now offering her support to Blake, expressing that the situation resonates with her experience during her defamation trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Speaking to NBC News, Amber said: "Social media is the absolute personification of the classic saying ‘A lie travels halfway around the world before truth can get its boots on.' I saw this firsthand and up close. It’s as horrifying as it is destructive.”
In 2022, Amber was found to have defamed her ex-husband with an article in which she claimed she was a victim of domestic abuse.
The 61-year-old actor, who consistently denied allegations of abuse against his ex-wife, was awarded $15 million in damages. Meanwhile, Amber won one of her three counterclaims, receiving $2 million. The former couple - who divorced in 2017 - both presented different versions of their romance during the high-profile trial.
Lively's legal complaint asserts that Baldoni strategically hired public relations crisis manager Melissa Nathan during the film's publicity tour. Nathan, as it turns out, is the same woman that actor Johnny Depp hired during his extremely high-profile defamation trial against his former wife, Heard, and has counted Drake and Travis Scott as past clients.
The actress - who played Justin's on-screen love interest - subsequently told the New York Times newspaper: "I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted."
Justin has denied the allegations, with his lawyer describing the claims as "categorically false".
Ryan Freedman, who represents Baldoni, responded to the filing, calling it “shameful” that Lively "would make such serious and categorically false accusations against Mr. Baldoni.”
Freedman also said that her actions were “another desperate attempt to ‘fix’ her negative reputation which was garnered from her own remarks and actions during the campaign for the film.”
