Charlie Sheen has settled a lawsuit filed by an ex in which she claimed the actor knowingly exposed her to HIV, per TMZ. She has reportedly been awarded $120,000 in the deal.
In court documents, the plaintiff alleged she met Sheen in September 2015 and engaged in sexual relations shortly after. The “Two and a Half Men” actor initially used a condom, according to the lawsuit, but decided on unprotected sex beginning on Oct. 26, 2015. Before the skin-to-skin liaison, Sheen had assured her he was “‘fine’” when she asked him whether he had any sexually transmitted diseases.
However, following the act, he confessed to her that he was, in fact, HIV positive — something that he had known since 2011 — and allegedly gave her pills to protect her from contracting the virus.
Despite failing to be truthful with her about the condition, Sheen allegedly argued that he was “noble” for telling her anything at all because it was “none of her f***ing business.”
The Young Guns actor later opened up about his diagnosis on a November 2017 episode of the Today show, admitting that he kept the news from his oldest for several years.
“It hit her hard, but she recovered. She’s tough like her dad,” he recalled while detailing what it was like to tell her he was HIV positive. “I said, ‘I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner, but it didn’t seem like you could do anything for me and I didn’t want to burden you with all the stress.’ But she was a rock star about it.”
It eventually came out in 2016 that Sheen had knowingly exposed at least 25 sexual partners to HIV after declining to inform them that he was a carrier of the virus. Attempting to defend his actions, he argued at the time that he hadn’t had unprotected sex during the encounters in question.
