Elon Musk’s 18-year-old child is seeking to change their gender from male to female and switch names to sever ties with their billionaire tech entrepreneur father.
Xavier Musk who recently turned 18, the age of consent in California, wants to be known as Vivian Jenna Wilson and has told a court in Santa Monica, California: “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”
There were no further details provided of the tensions between Musk and his child, and the Tesla and SpaceX founder has not yet commented on the decision, made in legal papers which were filed in April.
Musk has come under fire in recent months for social media comments which have been interpreted as transphobic. In July 2020, Elon tweeted that “pronouns suck.” Later that year, he also wrote, “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare.”
Xavier Musk was born as one of twins to Musk and Canadian author Justine Wilson in 2004, followed by triplet boys Damian, Kai, and Saxon two years later.
Musk had two more children, known as X and Y, with Canadian singer Grimes in 2018 and 2020. Xavier’s legal petition is due to be heard in court on Friday.
