Jennifer Lawrence got high on set to nail this role

In “Don’t Look Up,” Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio play astronomers trying to alert the world to the impending danger of a deadly comet. Lawrence “went method” in one particular scene, the movie’s director claimed.

Discussing the film during a Q&A in Los Angeles (per Yahoo! Movies), Director McKay began explaining how Lawrence immersed herself into her character before Lawrence said: “I know what you’re going to say, and I wasn’t pregnant [at the time].”

The director then agreed, “You were not pregnant,” before saying, “Can I say this?”. Lawrence replied: “I think so, just nobody tell my mother-in-law.”

McKay then explained that Lawrence asked to smoke weed before doing a scene opposite Meryl Streep in which the “Hunger Games” star didn’t have any lines.

“Because my character was getting high in the movie,” Lawrence added.

“I was a real target,” said Lawrence about the experience of being high on set. “Everyone was fucking with me, I guess because I was high. Easy to fuck with.”

Adam added: “I kept turning to my script supervisor, Cate Hardman, and was like, ‘I just want to say, “Hey Jen. I think I have a monologue idea for you.”‘ And I would look at Jen and was like, ‘I can’t do it. It would be too mean.’ So I left you alone.”

Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Timothée Chalamet, Tyler Perry, Ariana Grande, Cate Blanchett, Ron Perlman, Matthew Perry, Chris Evans, Melanie Lynskey, and Gina Gershon are among the other actors that appear in “Don’t Look Up.”
