Kelly Clarkson has filed a petition with the Los Angeles Superior Court to legally change her name amid her bitter divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock and wants to officially go by “Kelly Brianne”—her first and middle names.

In the legal documents she filed, (obtained by Us Weekly) Clarkson wrote that she had a “desire” to go by Kelly Brianne, as “my new name more fully reflects who I am.”

A court hearing regarding the petition is scheduled for March 28.

“I just got divorced, so I had to drop my married last name,” she told “People (the TV Show!)” at the premiere of “American Song Contest” Monday.

“I just kept my middle name for my personal life. I’m still Kelly Clarkson.”
The “American Idol” Season 1 winner then joked, “I don’t think I can change Clarkson at this point. I’m 20 years in!”

The name change request comes amidst her contentious split from Blackstock. Clarkson filed for divorce from her ex in June 2020 after seven years of marriage.

The “Since U Been Gone” songstress was granted primary custody of their two children — daughter River, 7, and son Remington, 5 — while Blackstock, who resides in Montana, will have the kids one weekend a month.

Clarkson will keep the former couple’s Montana ranch, though Blackstock, 45, is allowed to live there until June 1. In the meantime, he must cough up $12,500 a month for rent.

TODAY reported that Clarkson will pay Blackstock a one-time payment of $1,326,161, in addition to monthly payments of $115,000 in spousal support until Jan. 31, 2024, and $45,601 monthly in child support for their kids.

After going through expensive and begrudging divorce proceedings, Clarkson joked in December 2021 that she’d be “single forever.”
