Paris Hilton just welcomed her second child, a girl named London, via surrogacy. The hotel heiress and her husband Carter Reum welcomed their son Phoenix in January and have revealed the terrifying reason she hired a surrogate for both children.

In Glamour UK’s digital issue, the new mom, 42, spoke about turning to longtime friend Kim Kardashian for help on in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy.

“Kim told me about that as well,” she told the outlet about surrogacy. “I’m using the same doctor — Dr. Huang, who’s the best — and he has a concierge team that deals with everything and interviews the people [the surrogate] to make sure that they’re healthy.”

Paris revealed that before welcoming son Phoenix via surrogacy, she wanted to feel a special connection to him. So, she came up with a unique — yet, brilliant! — idea.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Paris: The Memoir author revealed that she encouraged her son’s surrogate to watch “episodes of The Simple Life while pregnant so that the fetus would get used to the sound of his mother’s voice,” according to the outlet.

The Simple Life singer claimed that one of the reasons she decided not to carry the babies herself is because she worried being pregnant would bring back bad memories of her time as a student at Provo Canyon – a psychiatric youth residential facility – in Utah.

She told Romper: “I just have so much PTSD from what I went through as a teenager … If I’m in a doctor’s office, I get a shot, anything, I will literally have a panic attack and I can’t breathe. I just knew that would not be healthy for me or the baby, growing inside of someone who has such high anxiety.”

The socialite previously alleged she had been subjected to “verbal, physical, emotional and psychological” torture whilst a teenage student at Provo Canyon and she’s admitted it wasn’t until she spoke about her ordeal that she finally stopped having “terrifying” nightmares.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph newspaper, she admitted:

“Up until sharing my story publicly three years ago, I was scared to fall asleep. I wish I could have filmed my dreams and show you what they’re like. They’re terrifying and I am grateful to be on a path to healing so I don’t have to relive them every night.”

She added: “I was unable to report what I was experiencing, and for over two decades, I bottled up my emotions. But now, I am turning that pain into purpose.

“It is my goal that by the time Phoenix and London are teenagers, no child is abused in the name of ‘treatment’ worldwide and there are more community-based options to support and serve families. Research shows that is the most effective option.”

Paris also admitted her busy schedule also contributed to her decision to use a surrogate, adding: “My schedule is out of control. There never would’ve been the right time to do it because there’s literally no time to do anything in my life.”

She says she’ll probably be “really strict,” which may surprise some due to her past as a club fixture alongside the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears.

“It’s a scary world out there, especially today. I’m just terrified when they become teenagers,” she said. She said she’d be happy to never set foot in a club again, and would keep the kids far away from the entertainment industry if she has any say at all.

“I’m hoping that they want to be scientists,” she said of her ambitions for London and Phoenix.

Hilton calls this stage of life her “mom era.”

“This is my best era yet,” she said.

“I used to look at my friends who’d be like, ‘Oh, I have to go home to my kids and my husband,’ like, ‘You’re so lame. This is so fun. I can’t imagine being like that,’” she said. “Now I’m one of those boring people, and I couldn’t be happier. I couldn’t imagine it any other way.”
