Margot Robbie is believed to be the highest-paid woman in Hollywood thanks to her massive salary for the upcoming Barbie movie.
According to a Variety report that broke down some of the year’s biggest salaries, Robbie is being paid 12.5 million for her performance in “Barbie,” earning more than any actress. Her co-star, Ryan Gosling, is also earning the same amount of money.
Right behind Robbie is Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, who got an impressive $10 million from Netflix for Enola Holmes 2, the sequel to her 2020 mystery film about Sherlock Holmes’s teenage sister. Brown is followed by Emily Blunt, who received $4M for her part in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, Oppenheimer. And rounding out the top 5 is Jamie Lee Curtis, who got $3.5M for Halloween Ends, and Anya-Taylor Joy, who was paid $1.8M for Furiosa.
However, according to Variety, the top-paid Hollywood actor of 2022 is Tom Cruise, who got a staggering $100 million for Top Gun: Maverick. The site predicts that this number will likely become even higher, thanks to the success the Top Gun sequel has found at the box office. Second to Cruise is Will Smith, who received $35M for Emancipation, followed by Leonardo DiCaprio, who was given $30M for Killers of the Flower Moon.
Robbie and Gosling star alongside Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Ncuti Gatwa, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, and Kate McKinnon in Barbie.
According to Deadline, the plot is about “Barbie getting kicked out of Barbieland because she’s not perfect enough” and she “goes on an adventure” to save Barbieland only to realize “that the key to happiness is belief in oneself.”
